The Bridge Between Us

Do I know you?

i would like to

know who you really are

whether you're near or far

some of you

i've broken bread with

three meals a day

some of you

I await that day

i get to meet you face to face

to share with you the riches of god's grace

it's funny

how some of you

furthest from me

have nothing to hide

and share your heart and need easily

while those who are within

arm's distance

remain distant

a few of you

have opened up

to some degree

and lets be fair

my role for you

was to disappear 

but surely you know

deep down

i still care

that's why

when you crossed the bridge

i cried

tears of mixed emotions

some selfish

wishing

we'd had 

more time

some proud

of watching you grow

although sad a tad

mostly excited

to see you go

i don't know

where your bridge will take you

but i hope it's wonderful

whatever way you choose

I shared some devotions for a time

they encouraged you so

they helped you to grow

oh how many of you

reached out to me

share with us more of your

teaching! please!

you all are so hungry

to hear the truth preached

in so many different countries

will i one day get to teach?

​

be patient with me

as my worlds collide

I'm not sure what awaits me

on the other side

of the bridge i walk across

​

i have seen that many

of my friends overseas

have been chained down

in lives of poverty

and i know

brothers and sisters

this should not be

you are seeking god above all

and he promises if i recall

to meet our needs

"and all these things 

will be added"

right now

the math ain't mathin'

so I'm figurin'

it's high time

we stepped in

from across the pond

not that I can wave

a magic wand

to make all poverty

disappear

but i see a future near

where opportunity

shows mercy

and uplifts

entire communities

stay with me

the bridge between us

will offer a hand up

that's what's up

now my identity 

must remain

in anonymity

so i can be

in all the places

god has called me to be

​

but know

one day i'll share

my identity

on the other side

of eternity

​

i hope you know

the love i carry for you so
